Setting Up existing TF2 Sever help.
#1
Hello everyone, okay so I recently given a sever. But I am a complete novice on how to manage it. So I read the Tut and from that I can probably figure it out. But since the server is already there would I have to do anything different?

He also mentioned that the Server is Online but TF2 server is not, have to update Sourcemod I believe ( which is part of starting it up anyway right? )

Another suggestion he said is to use putty ( need clarification if this is a program ) or the original ssh client.

And I think it was running with Linux before but he said I can change it to whatever.

Last thing this is info he gave me,

Server address: 64.15.70.146
SSH Port: 22222

Valve folder: /usr/local/valve or /valve
TF folder: /usr/local/valve/orangebox/tf or /tf

TF2 command script:
cd /valve/
./tf2.sh start
./tf2.sh stop
./tf2.sh restart
./tf2.sh update

Log files should be in /var/log/tf*

Any help would be nice.

I would suggest snipping your SSH port as that isn't a default port and some script kiddie could attempt to hack your server using that port.

And download PuTTY here:

For Windows on Intel x86

putty is a ssh client which you can use to log in and run those commands (like "./tf2.sh start").

to update sourcemod you have to download the most recent version from the sourcemod homepage (http://www.sourcemod.net). extract the archive to some empty folder and copy only those files to your TF2 directory, which are not config files. (better make a backup of the whole TF2 server before starting the update)
