I cannot really imagine an abuse scenario from which someone can actually benefit. regardless of the number of redirections the server will appear only once in the steam master list...

Yes the server appear only once in the master list. Thats correct. But if you create +20 servers. All of those have different name on the serverlist. But they share players. Exact same players on every of those +20 servers.
I think that's abuse. Because if i join server x. Il still play with my friend that join server y. Then when you want to join it´s big chanse that you are joining that server and play against me and my friend. Because there are normaly simplified
15 servers running that map. Now there are +35 servers. Those extra servers only act as an relay.

that's something different apparently, and I even do not know how that can work... at least not for srcds (with hlds you can do this with some plugin faking players on the dummy servers and doing a redirection - but redirections without confirmation do no longer work on srcds).

The only thing you need is iptables
I tested it for a couple of days ago. It did NOT work. But i forgot to remove that rule. Today players joining on ip xxxxxxx:27015 and xxxxxx:27035 was mistaklingly playing on same server. Not good. Two teams needed two servers for pcw's :-(
flush iptables and it was normal again.

iptables does not put the redirected ports into the steam master list. and it does not allow different names for the cloned servers.
