Problem with Srcds.

Hello. I am working on a new game mode, and I need a server to test it. I downloaded srcds to make a quick offline server (I'm not port forwarding or anything like that, I just need to test some things that require a server, singleplayer won't work for it.) I had scrds a while ago and it was working, but I didn't have the server.cfg file, and me being the idiot I was decided to delete the whole thing and redownload it, thinking the file would be there when I downloaded it again. Anyway, now when I double click the shortcut on my desktop, or the real application in my folder, nothing happens. I tried opening it through CMD too, but nothing. If I right click the shortcut and click open a window pops up for about 1/10th of a second then disappears. It goes to fast for me to read but the first letter of it is an R, though that's probably not important. Thank you for reading this and trying to help.

P.S. - I have Windows Vista if that helps at all. Also, if this is in the wrong spot, I apologize, and if you notify me I will move it to where it belongs.

how do you want to develop a new game mode if you even cannot solve this alone

maybe you try installing a clean server along one of the million installation howtos for srcds in the web first...

Because I'm a loser. T.T Well this is my first gamemode, so right now its just a crappy test gamemode that is really basic, but if it works I'm gonna start working on a bad one then turn it into a good one, which'll take like 4 months.

Anyway, I guess I was kinda unclear with what I said... I installed everything, I have all the folders (except the server.cfg but I'll get that later), but the actual srcds program won't open. Nothing happens when I double click it but if I right click it and click open a program named Rarsomething, I could only get the Rar part before it closed, pops up for about one tenth of a second.

You need to open srcds.exe from a command line and pass it the correct parameters.

It was working a while ago just by double clicking... :O
