How Can I Eliminate These Errror Messages?
#1
Hi,

First time poster...

Have been trying without success to get a dedicated server (srcds) up. I think I may have picked a bad time to try this what with the OB update and all. Anyway, when I do launch I get these error messages and would like to be able to get rid of them. Have hunted around in folders for something refering to these messages but no luck. I'm new to the server side of things.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.

Srcds loves errors... Does your game server work even though those errors show up?
Looking for a game server? Visit fullfrag.com and pick one up as low as $2.50 / mo!

Hi Loopyman,

Yes and No :-). I can play on LAN but my server is invisible out there in the great wide WAN. I've a fixed IP (int and ext) and all ports are forwarded / open. Still fiddling around with things. But those error messages annoy me because there are lots of them and they take up loads of lines in the srcds dos box.

I've spent the last few days on this without success and must have read every thread on the net about not being able to get outside connections to servers! I won't turn this thread into a 'help me get my server listed' one - there are enough of those out there. Just would love to eliminate the error messages for now.

Thanks.

And do you have any addons on this server?

Actually, I've told a little lie :-(

I was able to connect to the LAN game previously but now no-can-do. I re-updated / downloaded using the update tool last thing yesterday and hadn't tried the LAN mode since. Now when I try to connect to LAN game I get this:

What mod is that? Thanks for your help.

Okay, I reinstalled the whole lot again! Now I am able to connect via LAN but still have those error messages. Been Googling a bit about those and there are some threads on this forum about it. But there doesn't appear to be a remedy as far as I can see. Guess I'll have to put up with them for now.

HL2DM in general makes a lot of errors. Most of them can be safely ignored. These errors appear because Value rushed to make HL2 multilayer back in 2004.

And the amazing thing is...people can play on my server!

I started it in LAN and was messing around and then players started arriving. Incredible. There were three other players at one point. I don't know how they found me because I checked in the main internet server list and my server wasn't there. Also not showing up in HLSW (showing timeout). Maaaaan. I bet it's been online the whole time I've been tearing my hair out trying to get it online!

Now if I can just get it to show up in my own server list!

Anyway, thanks for all your replies, really appreciate the help.

You use your INTERNAL IP. Should start with 192.1
Your players use your External IP.
