Windows 2003 or 2008 - And other questions.
#1
So, for a while my community has been using managed hosting and I am just building up an i7 rack unit currently.

So, my question is for Garrysmod SRCDS should I choose Windows 2003 or 2008. Or even linux?

Does linux support multiprocessing with SRCDS? Because I know windows fails at it. Currently my server can hammer a core of a Q9400 so true multiprocessing would be amazing.

We use 2008 and have been very happy with it... Other than the fact that you have to disable and remove so many "Features" to get it working smoothly.
Looking for a game server? Visit fullfrag.com and pick one up as low as $2.50 / mo!

I highly recommend win2k8. With 2k3 you can only reach ~500FPS. with 2k8, 1000FPS, and with a modified kernel, even higher.

FPS is not an issue with Garrysmod.

Windows 2008 supports HPET, and other things. 2003 is fine though, but the scheduler seems to have way more jitter on 2003 compared to 2008.
