sys_ticrate in TCAdmin
#1
Hello,

I am trying to get the -sys_ticrate option to work in TCAdmin from the startline. When I put it in, it does not have any effect on the server. I already have the hrtimers enabled, the command still does not work. All servers run at whatever sys_ticrate is set in the server.cfg I need to be able to lock the FPS with -systicrate from the startline, but it is not working.

Any ideas?

leave sys_ticrate at 100. increasing it past 100 actually increases the equivalent of -tickrate from HL2 based games and also messes with the clock (goldsrc games run with the tick rate locked to the fps). many things depend on this value and increasing it will kill AI (bots, scripted sequences etc), mess up certain animaions, and can cause jitterness to players that have low frame rates. it also increases bandwidth requirements tenfold (if originally you could run with 35000 rate with no choke, increasing sys_ticrate would cause 100 choke on that rate setting). 200 is pretty much the max you can go without majorly fucking things up.

Please. GTFO. sys_tickrate should be set at 10000 and wtf.. goldsrc games doesnt run with tickrate locked to the fps. for best performance it should be locked at 100 tick at 1000 fps. over that increases the how fast time moves.

i've spent YEARS disassembling the game 007 nightfire which runs on the goldsrc engine because there were tons of issues and misconceptions. almost every game out there has the tick rate locked in to the FPS including every COD series. source engine is the only game out there i know of that has a separate fps/tickrate. sys_ticrate 10000 is complete stupidity. it gets locked at 0.01 which is 1000. there is NO way to differentiate the tick rate from the fps in goldsrc which is why the sys_ticrate should always be set to 100. yes there's a slight ping advantage at higher values but the tradeoffs come in favor of 100. try running a coop server with bots, the bots will turn like snails at anything higher than 100. try editing the engine to allow higher than 100 fps in-game and youll also notice everything slows down to a crawl.

Oh really. Is this going to be like one of your other posts? You are wrong. In your other post you were all like "OMG I KNOW 1000 FPS IS BEST" and then me and several other forum members agrees that its best to run with 66.67 fps in orangebox games (WHICH IS THE BEST, CMON READ AROUND IN THESE FORUMS)

Edit: Oh and btw. bots are not the same as real players. just a heads up.
