There is a new BZIP released, but there is no executable? Is it possible someone compiles this?

You need to compile it with an ANSI C compiler (like MS Visual C for Windows). Download the file from http://www.bzip.org/downloads.html and extract it. There's a README present.

My guess is just run apt-get install bzip2 or yum install bzip2 depending on your flavor Smile
