Servers crashing
#1
Hello all,

When using the linux engine to start 15 game servers per physical server - it fails and starts crashing game servers. Every server is not crashed, only a few of them.

I am running them from the same folder (same game engine), have tested on other machines with same result.

Running this one;
./hlds_i686 -game cstrike +map de_dust2 +maxplayers 12 +ip XXXXXXX -port 27015 +hostname "XXXXXXXXX" +sv_password XXX +rcon_password XXX -tickrate 100 -norestart -pingboost 3 +sys_ticrate 1200 +fps_max 0 -secure

Does anyone know how I can fix this issue? As I said above: Every game server is running on the same machine, with same files.

EDIT:
Without any mods installed.

15 server on a single machine is quite a lot. maybe it runs out of memory? can you give us the specs?

Hello, yeah sure,

32 gb ram, Dual E5620 (Xeon), 10 gbit broadband connection

EDIT:
I can also tell that the "process" is still there - but it's impossible to get contact with the game server. There's no problem with firewall or something like that.

right, 32gb should be enough. which linux distribution? is it 64 bit? 32 bit kernels can access the whole 32gb (if configured correctly) but might make problems if you really access more than 2 GB at the same time...

and how does the server crash? can you post some lines of the console output right before the crash? is a "core" file produced?

It's Linux Ubuntu, and it's 64-bit.

No there's no core file produced. And there's no rows at all @ console. I did a test by myself - without any players though.. Have booked 50 game servers now without any problem.. Really strange.

I'll open up the booking section again and I will continue check system and hardwire usage.

Big thanks BehaartesEtwas for trying to solve this problem. I will not add RESOLVED to topic yet - i'll wait until tomorrow and see if the error happends again. Smile

Again, thanks!

Happend now again..

With only 3 servers booked, one got crashed. Process is running, but server is not responding at all.

This is so crazy. I have tried to add "-debug" to command line, but no debug.log is created. Maybe -debug is not used for HLDS? Which command should I use instead?

Please help!
