Im sure there are many threads of people asking this, sorry to bring it up again, but i have a couple questions for a server i plan to host...
The processor is 2.8 ghz 3 core, 4 gb ddr2 1066 ram.
Im looking at a cheap and small ssd... or the fastest 7200 rpm any suggestions for which to get?
I will be running a stripped down as much as possible version of windows 7 home premium. I will be using an external source for map downloads.
My internet connection averages 20 Mbits down and 2.6 up.
How many players do you think i can host without lag?
No, i dont want to rent either.
Also curious... does srcd use more then one core?

A single instance does not use more then one core.
Your main limitation will probably be your upload speed.

Please do not PM me for server related help

I have 24 player slots, with 3.5mb up and it is fine even with full server. Not to mention I got ts3 running with 4-7 users connected at times.
