How to get CSS gui server to work?
#1
I followed the guide and got that to work, but I don't want a console version...

I just want to be able to make a quick and easy server for me and some of my friends to play on that have bots. I would like it to auto change maps and such like if we were playing over lan, but this will be over then internet.

I have a spare computer that this will run on.

Windows xp 32 bit
2.8ghz Dual Core PD
2gb Ram
7200rpm HDD

I think some how I found a video to show me how to made the gui version but can't anymore. Even if I did find that it does not show me how to add bots...

Can someone help me. Or would you recommend just using the console?
Okay well I think I got the console working easy. I found a way just have a desktop shortcut and the server is up and running.

Any more suggestion would be great. Thanks.

IMO, the GUI causes issues that are weird (known for mods and addons to break). Console is much easier, especially when debugging to get the server working right. Use commands like changelevel in console to switch the map, and use Sourcemod for ingame administration.

Thanks for the reply. I think I will use console now. It does seem easier and a lot more customizable.

Can you point me in a direction so that this can be a lan and internet server.
None of my friends can see the server. Only the computers on my network...

Port forward 27000-27040 UDP/TCP on your router to the server machine, and open the firewall on the server. Send your friends this IP:

What's my ip address, create your own visitors IP image

And you can connect using your internal (or by the LAN tab in server browser).

There is no real reason to run the GUI version.
Using HLSW does everything the GUI does but is better and can be ran remotely.

Lets not forget that its currently in its 1337 build... Which magically makes it 1337x better.
