Best os for a game server!

Question 
Hi,

I was wondering what is the best os to run a gameserver on?

I allways use centos or fedora. But i don't know if there is a better one..

According to me, Debian is the best.

Its a matter of personal prefrence. In my opinion, Gentoo is the best.

Agreed, im running 2 66 tick servers 1 18 slot and one 10 slot on gentoo, vannilla 2.4 kernel patched with low-latency and High latency timer, 768 megs ddr, no gui and high optimisations, and even with apache, and mysql, ssh and a teamspeak 2 server running on it at the same time i havent ever had any lag or hicups, and ist been up for 32 days now with no reboots.

a source compiled distro will certanly produce a faster system if you set up the compiler flags properly, as the binaries produced are more optimised for your particular setup, too bad we cant compile our own SRCDS servers :-)
