Question regarding the IP of my server
#1
I have been working on getting this server up for about 2 days. It is my first time working on this. I had it up and running last night, with mani on it with me and my group of friends as admins. My only problem is, I have no idea what my own IP is.

I figured it out last night by asking a random person who joined what it was. It was my public IP (static one straight from my ISP) with the port 50609. Since then, I have learned how to specify both port # and IP address when executing srcds. But when I do that, neither the IP i specify, or the public IP work. I could really use some help on this one as I am startign to get quite frustrated with this. Thanks in advance.

if your pc is directly connected to the internet then goto start . run > cmd [enter] type ipconfig /all [enter]

Your IP will be listed there

I know ipconfig, unfortunately, I am not directly connected to the internet. I am therefore running inside of a NAT, so that cannot help me. I have the ports on my router (linksys) forwarded as it says on portforward.com, and I have been giving out my public IP to the people attempting to join. I have attempted specifying both the port and ip, to no avail.

http://www.whatismyip.com <--- to know your public ip

people have to connect to yourpublicip:27015

sv_lan need to be set to 0

set your windows or third party firewall off your server (your linksys has a good one)

forward these ports to your server
UDP 1200 (Friends Network)
UDP 27000 to 27015 (Gameport)
UDP 27020
TCP 27030 to 27039
TCP: 27015 (SRCDS Rcon port)

that's all, hope one of these can help

for servers all you need is 27015 tcp and udp... or if the computer has a firewall.. just dmz the server.. so you know ports aren't the issue.
