SRCDS Steam group

Few questions about linux.
#16
Informational (on Fedora, i'm sure it's the same on Debian):
Code:
# Default runlevel. The runlevels used are:
#   0 - halt (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
#   1 - Single user mode
#   2 - Multiuser, without NFS (The same as 3, if you do not have networking)
#   3 - Full multiuser mode
#   4 - unused
#   5 - X11
#   6 - reboot (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
Steam username for communication: root_admin (but i'm just a regular user)

apparently not true in all conditions, else gdm should have been active in 5 only... generally apart from 0, 1 and 6 the runlevels can be defined freely, it's only (distribution depended) convention to assign some meaning.

You dont even need a GUI for SRCDS. I used to use it all the time. Learn how to use Screen. You will be much happier with the performance. Especially on a low ram machine. I run 3G of ram in mine with a phenom quadcore cpu. so it didnt matter when i ran a GUI. BTW if you just started I do not suggest Gentoo. I mean i have tried CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu, and Gentoo. And by far gentoo is my favorite but, it takes hours to install and its a lot of reading. And thanks to BehaartesEtwas i boosted all of their kernels and in my case found gentoo to be the best. BTW thank you BehaartesEtwas for those tutorials. i learned a lot from them.
