hi.i decides after many years on wondows to change my srcds from windows to linux ubuntu 10.1 .i am reading step by step the tutorial for install srcds on linux but when i was at the end and i put the command ./steam it saw me that error:

Getting version 39 of Steam HLDS Update Tool
Downloading. . . . . . . . . . . .
tar: τόμος/srcds_1: Δεν βρέθηκε στην αρχειοθήκη
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
update failed, please run "tar xzUf LinuxHldsUpdateTool_39.pkg" to install the latest steam binary
what i must do?please help me

The error message already tells you what to do. Why dont you just do so....

you thinks i am so noob.i write this command and it says this:

now it took the command.but now it saw me another error this:

Linux is case sensitive. The hlds tool wants you to use tar xzUf LinuxHldsUpdateTool_39.pkg
From your post you ran It all with small letters.
btw: Try setting your system to english and post that error messages. I guess what you posted is in greak?
That makes it hard for all to understand what excactly your problem is.

yes its greek.this is the message in english .That you wrote i did it but it didn't work

I can only guess:
Try setting up a new user/folder for the server using only letters that exist on an english keyboard.
Looks like the updater has trouble interpreting the greek letters.

my srcds folder i had it on another hard drive who has greek name.Thats is maybe a problem?
