Can't download Counter Strike from hldsupdatetool...
#1
Hello, I have been trying to install a clean version of Counter Strike Source because I have had so many issues getting mine to run error free. I created a brand new srcds file and updated the hldsupdatetool into that folder. I then type in a cmd prompt:

C:\srcds>hldsupdatetool.exe -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir .

It will then start by saying there is not installation at ./orangebox and create an orangebox file. Then says a couple more times... there is no installation record found at .

During this time it creates a HL2 folder and then it just stops. I can come back hours later and it is just sitting right there. I have done this 10 times now and get the same result... HELP!

Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Service Pack 3
Intel Core 2 Duo
2.93 GHz, 1.96 GB of Ram

P.S. How do I create a signature on this web site??

You will have to wait, it's standard. How fast are your download connection?

You did'nt set a directory for it to install to. Try this as the parameters:
-command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir C:\srcds

He did -dir . ... means: installation in current folder

Finally got it to download but now I'm having issues with it running properly. It starts and runs and I can log into it and play, but as soon as I log out the server crashes... Ugg this is frustrating!
