Servers crashing without reason

Hi!!

Well, im writing because im having a problem:
I have a server that runs Game Servers. First i had it with Debian Lenny X64 and the servers were VERY unstable, so a friend recommended me to swith to CentOS X64 5.5, and that what i did.

Now, i have the server with CentOS and servers are no as unstable as Debian, but they are still a bit unstable, they crash without reason and at the same time, for example, at the same moment 1 L4D and 2 CS servers goes Offline...

But the weird thing of it is that when i log to my server as root, the proccesses seems to be still running (or at least that's that TOP says). Also, when i run screen -list, it shows the servers screen as still running.


i dont know what it can be... im sure that its NOT related to hardware problems or internet problems because when servers crashes, not ALL of the crashes, for example it crashes 3 or 4 of the 12 i have running.


Any suggestion, please!! ??

what are your server specs? 12 servers are alot...

centos is not the best choice for game servers, debian is much better. and it's not debian that is unstable, the reason must be somewhere else... what kernel do you use?

and did you try without any plugins? many plugins have bugs that tend to crash the server occasionally.

I dont think it comes by the way of the server specs, because servers crash even when they are all empty.

It isnt a plugins problem also, because most of the servers ARENt using any pplugin

And which is the most weird thing about it, is the fact that when a server crash, it doesnt crash alone, it crashes with 2 or 3 more servers (includes HLDS and SRCDS)

please don't filter out questions based on assumptions. even with emtpy servers it's easy to bring a weak cpu at its limits if you simply run too many servers.

but probably your problem is that you run hlds and srcds at the same time. that is known to produce problems. mainly with fps stability, but I can imagine also crashes if you run that many servers...

Well, they ARENT crashes, is just like if the game stops the internet conection and starts running in LAN, or something like that, because the server is still running AND i can get into the Screen where it is running and i can change the map, see the STATS command and i also see that its alive because the stats shows a little variation of the FPS, so its IS alive, but not broadcasting through the internet...

I also reduced significately the number of servers and it still happening...

I think that this must be related to some OS bug or something like that.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm hoping someone can elaborate.
