Cant join

Whenever i start the server i cant join mine or anybody elses.
I tried changing the port but i still couldnt join.
The command i used to start the server was:
-console -game hl2mp -tickrate 33 -ip xxx.xx.xxx -port 27015 -maxplayers 10 +map dm_lockdown
My friend joined the server just fine but i couldnt join mine or any others.
I am running windows.

You should make sure that you are binding to the right ip address, which I assume you have. Then you need to make sure that the server is visible to the public, easy way to check this is to search in the server browser for Steam or to go on Game Tracker and try to query the server. If the server is seen from the outside, but can't join then you may have to open additional ports from what I remember. If the server is not seen from the outside, then you need to open firewall ports. If you are unable to open firewall ports, it may be a relatively okay idea to setup the server on a DMZ using your router. This will open your computer up to host the server. Lastly, in order for a localhost to connect to a server, you have to use connect localhost:27015 again from what I remember.
