Yes you can. Don't be mislead by that uninformative and incorrect thread.
Obviously this requires a fairly decent computer and more than shitty internet connection.
Go to speedtest.net and if you get at least 1mbps upload you should be okay for around 6 or 8 slots.
Your computer should be multi-cored, preferable 4 or more but 2 or 3 is acceptable.
At least 1.8 GHz cpu speed for css/tf2, 2.0 or more for l4d/2.
