New VPS, Would this work out?
#1
Hey there, i'm soon going to be managing a community with several servers.

I'm wanting:
2 Gmod Servers
2 Counter-Strike: Source Servers
1 Team Fortress 2 Server

Spec of the VPS:

The server is split for only 2 users.. :o

Processor: 2 x Intel Xeon E5520 (2.26GHz, 8M Cache)
Hard disk: 4x 1TB SAS drives 7200 rpm
RAM: 72GB (Holy f*ck, i thought it was 3gb)
Round-Robin CPU: Yes
Guaranteed & Burstable Dynamic RAM: Yes
RAID 5 Hard Disk Array: Yes
Burstable Data Transfer: 100 mbit
Dell PowerEdge R710: Yes

I'm unsure on what i need to host all 5. It might end up that i get the Dedicated Server. But i'd rather not, as i'm not "made of money" as some would say.

If it comes to be an extreme no, i could reduce Gmod servers to 1, if that would help at all.. I've heard Gmod is just a "devil" when it comes to RAM. (Would it make a great difference if i reduced? lol)

Can anyone help me out please? Would be highly appreciated.

Sorry about that. If you click on the link, that's the same info that i have. It doesn't note any more of the spec, although just running off the RAM... What are your opinions?

There isn't an advisor online either, so i can't ask them at the moment..

Bah I don't think you're going to get the power you want to run those game servers on a VPS...
Looking for a game server? Visit fullfrag.com and pick one up as low as $2.50 / mo!

Aye, like i said. Gmod is a whore for using up the RAM.
Do you think the CSS and TF2 would work out though?

RAM: 72GB (Holy f*ck, i thought it was 3gb)
Round-Robin CPU: Yes

Not good to see those two there. Let me explain:

With that much memory you know they are going to have a large amount of VPS' on that server like yours. The processors that they are using are very nice, but you will be competing for processor usage.

Also for round-robin CPU usage, if this is what I think it is... Imagine your game servers data standing in a line because the other VPS's are in front of you.

Great.. -_-'
I'll see how it goes, and if it's crap.. I'll move onto a different UK host.
Thank for the help. :]

generally don't use VPS for game servers. regardless of the provider they are not suited (see loopymans explanations)
