Server.cfg not enforced
#1
Our dedicated server box is up and running at 100 tic now. Srcds loads, metamod loads, then it loads Mani_admin as plugin 1.

I can go into the console of the game and type sv_minupdaterate and it reports 67, which is where I have it set. However, in the game the values set forth in the server.cfg are not enforced. I get people all the time with 30,20 and rate 6500. They skip all over the place and such.

My question is, does anyone have a clue why the server config values are not being enforced on the players? I'm kind of stumped on this one. Do I need to just load mani manually after the game loads?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The client sets their rates. The best thing you can do is make adverts that say "Open console and type this: cl_cmdrate 101 | cl_updaterate 101 | rate 35000".

Well, I HAD the other server set just like this. And if you came in with 30,20 rates, the config file forced a minimum rate depending on what I had set in the cfg file. And thats what I'm stumped about. Why isn't it working on this server? Is there something going on with Mani maybe? I know on the other server now I'm using SM and it works just fine. You can have your rates set to whatever you want, but if you log into that server, it forces limits.

I used to be able to just ma_cexec and change it for them, but that is screwed now too and you can't run commands on people any more. Bummer...

I've explained it (partially) here:
http://wiki.fragaholics.de/index.php/EN:Source_Netsettings#Server_Side

most plugins (like mani or some sourcemod plugins) display the values of the CVARs not the actual rates. still even the actual cmdrate (but not the updaterate) might be lower than your minimum due to low client fps.

a tickrate of 100 really only makes a difference if every (opponent) player and yourself always have (at least) 100 fps even in battle. often this is not the case due to weak hardware at least on public servers...
