Server connection errors

I'm new here so I don't know many of the form commands and set ups.
Well I have a Gmod server and no one can join it who is not on my network.

GX 280 running
Microsoft Windows XP Professional service pack 3 with a bran new NVIDIA (as of 3 weeks ago)

server IP: 192.168.0.2:27015
my external IP: 68.58.184.176

Runs ASS mod 2.20, Drugs mod, Realistic CSS weapons, a few car packs, all Kermite's weapons packs, PHX, and advanced Duplicator, lazer Stool, And all content available for Gmod except for Zeno Clash on gm_bigcity

every time I spawn some thing it lags every one in the server then give gives every one a connection problem as if the server crashed or some thing like that for 5-8 seconds then the prop spawns its really annoying.

I am able to get it so that people can see my server. I typed in heartbeat and sv_lan 0.

I herd some thing about setting the fps to 150 but that didn't help. No one can join my server for some reason and I opened my ports.

I ran the server with and with out (when I first got it) all my addons so I don't believe its any of the addons.

Running a game server on the same computer as you're running on is not recommended... The reason why players lag is because your local computer is caching the model / material files associated with the prop that you spawned... Most likely you either have a slow / full hard drive or you're very low on Memory. GarrysMod does require a bit of memory to run locally and host a server.


Local computers do not make the best servers... As some people will argue that it can be done and its a conspiracy by the man ( Game Server Providers ) to prevent you from doing so.

Ok I will try running the server then play on a different computer. Get back to you when I try it.

Yes. Like I said when I first made the server it didn't have any mods installed and it still skipped.

Ram is 1.99 GB a 2.79 GHz processor on a Dell GX 280 with a internal 180Gb hard drive (where server files are installed [130Gb remains])with a 750Gb external (where steam is installed[680GB remains]) OS is Microsoft Windows XP Pro service pack 3 with wireless internet connection (netgear router, with comcast high speed internet [not power boost]) Thats really all I can think of at the moment.
