Good Old map missing error
#1
Ok, i'm getting the generic "map missing, disconnecting" error when I try to connect to my server

here's what i've done:

double and triple checkd that I have proper flags in my server.cfg
sv_allowdownload 1
sv_allowupload 1

verified that I have the maps both on my local server, and in my svdownloadurl location. For some reason though, when i enter the url of where the bsp file is supposed to be in my browser, it won't download. if i enter the url of a text file or an MP3, then it download/displays correctly. But I have no problems download the bsp file via cuteftp or via GoDaddy's web file manager.

I made sure that cl allowdownload 1 was set on my client PC...

Also, when i navigate to my steamapps/cstrike/maps folder (just the path off the top of my head, you get the idea) i can see the custommap.res & custommap.txt files... but the bsp's are missing...

I'm really at my wits end with this, as this is the last thing i need to sort out before I can announce the server to my forum.

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with the downloadurl because some of the maps that were bzipped were corrupt.

none of my maps are bzip'd, just plain jane .bsp's

First off, remove the ztmp files from your folder.
Second compress all the maps with bz2
Third try and disable sv_downloadurl, and see if it works then. If so, your config is wrong or something :=)

removed the ztmps

I've tried bz2-ing a map and that didn't work either. When i disable sv_downloadurl, the maps download, but that still isn't the problem.

the ONLY thing that doesn't download via my sv_downloadurl are the .bsp's.

mp3's, .res', .txt's... all these files download just fine from my http server, the only thing that doesn't are the bsp's
