When I was playing with my friend, half an hour ago, suddenly my server started to lag like hell!!!! I noticed that our pings didnt change at all,and the cause of lag was that the IN updates at the net_graph 3 mysteriously DROPPED from 100 / s to 8/s!!!WTF!!!I managed to quit the server, but when it restarted, that **** type of lag was still THERE.TOO WEIRD because in the in-game server list and HLSW shows that the server has 220 ms latency(normal is 55ms),WTF????And when i join the server it delays so much and i can't do anything, even join a team and the net_graph 3 STILL shows 8/s IN and 100/s OUT.WTF???Please, this is the first time i noticed such a WEIRD THING and i need your help what to do,because i restarted the server many times and this type of lag don't want to go
My ip of my server is 150.140.208.159:27015.PLZ, i beg you to check out what's happened!!

Are you hosting locally or a data center?

No,I host the server from a pc lab at my university. The bandwidth in Greece,is limited so we can't host from our homes. So,when I reached the campus today,I went to the pc where the server is and restarted that, after that I ran SRCDS,testing that its fps is ok and then I went back home.At home, i opened CSS to join the server but the problem STILL EXISTS!!!Even though from "rcon stats" its fps were OK (512),the IN updates were too LOW,causing so much lag that you can't easily join a team when you enter the server. I am sure that they don't use all the bandwitdh there, because i would have only high ping, not DROPPED UPDATES
ALSO,i managed to install the server to an another computer of the same network with ip :150.140.208.139,because i thought that the previous pc had problems with its RAM or sth else,BUT STILL THE **** LAG EXISTS EVEN THOUGH IT IS HOSTED FROM ANOTHER COMPUTER!!!WTF??

NOT SOLVED , this strange thing happened again yesterday and now i am sure that they don't plan a lan party or anything.I thought that this event caused the loss lag but I was wrong!!!!So I have a few questions for you:
1)In what way this type of lag occur? What means if we have SERVER LOSS because we are sure that our connection is ok so that the packets from the server don't reach the clients?
2)Is there any way to fix it? I tried to turn off and restart the pc where the server is but nothing happened. Is seriously a temporalily network problem of that area or something else that is causing problems to the network there ( a programm or a virus?) Please respond to my message as soon as possible.
Bob7
(P.S.) When I speak about loss, I speak about getting 50-60 loss at net_graph 3.This problem started SUDDENLY yesterday evening and still exists till now.

If its anything like the Economy in Greece I would say your labs internet connection is highly unstable.

I honestly can't see you getting the IT department at your university to justify opening firewall ports and putting your Source server in an open environment without having other routing conflicts and such within the internal network. You honestly have no real recourse here except to host from another location. Serious spikes and lag is more indicative of a network under load and it could be problems from both the university as well as your local ISP.

I managed to lower the "sv_maxupdaterate" command from 101 to 20 and I saw that the loss disappeared! But,still the pings are too high from the normal amount,( + 70 ms up exactly ),but the game is not laggy, since the loss is 0 now.And I have to mention that I didn't have this problem always. The normal thing is when the right numbers at net_graph 3 are both 101.x / s where x a number and the average ping is 28 ms on the server.AFTER THAT,when i manage to increase the "sv_maxupdaterate" command a little, i noticed that LOSS APPEARED after the 40 updates. Why? I remember hosting a dedicated server at my home, with only 0.80 Mbps upload bandwitdth but I could still play well with 4 slots maximum capability at full rates and fps, without lag, loss or choke and now, even though I AM THE ONLY GUY AT THE SERVER,I HAVE TERRIBLE LOSS,EVEN THOUGH THE UPLOAD BANDWITDH THERE IS OVER THAN 10 Mpbs! WTF?
