SRCDS will not start

Ram: 2GB
CPU: AMD Athalon 2.2 GHz
Windows XP Pro SP3 .Net 3.5
Startup command: srcds -console -game garrysmod -maxplayers 18
Admin mods: assmod

OK when I run the start up command in cmd, nothing happens, No windows open, no error messages, nothing! All I get is the Hourglass for a split second. Any ideas on how to start to fix this?

First off, make sure you used the hldsupdatetool correctly. When you created a shortcut of a hldsupdatetool and adjusted the target line correctly. The target line needs to be this for garrysmod:

hldsupdatetool -command update -game garrysmod -dir C:\srcds

C:\srcds needs to be changed to whatever directory you are actually are using.

Also your start-up line needs a little bit more...

Here is a few things to add...

First in your start-up line you must put your external ip in. You can get this by going to What's My IP. Then in you start-up line add the following line:

+ip IPHERE

If you are behind a router try your internal ip, which can be found by going to command prompt and typing "ipconfig /all". Find "I Pv4 Address" and the IP following it is the ip you should use.

There is a few more things you need to add, like the map it needs to start with etc, here is an example of what a working command line should look like.

-console -game garrysmod +map gm_flatgrass +hostport 27015 -maxplayers 16 -autoupdate

In your console type sv_lan 0. This allows people that are not on your lan to connect to you.

I have setup numerous gmod servers, it sounds like you put an addon or a model pack into the wrong directory... ( I could be wrong )

Should I try starting without the server.cfg and see if that is the problem?

Does DarkRP have any CVars


Never mind did not work... I need an idea to fix this.
