Help, FPS issues.
#1
Hi all, I currently rent a VDS server from Nuclearfallout.
I am having huge problems right now on windows 2008, my server side FPS is not stable.

I mean it goes all the way down to 99-100 for long periods of time and then it goes back to 1000 fps.

NFo was talking about a program they developed that auto fix the server side FPS on Linux that I am not sure what it is...they call it FPS Locker.
Anyone got any idea what that is and how exactly it works?

In case you guys don't know, I run a CS:S server.

Here is the server specs:

* Eight full, dedicated HT CPU cores (Core i7 or better) Intel E5520 x8
* 8192 MB of RAM
* 800 GB of hard drive space
* 4000 GB of InterNAP bandwidth transfer
* Eight IP addresses

I hope you know that nothing on window can hold 1000fps stable. Unless its the only server on that box.

However, have you turned on HPET, the right command line, and also
turned on the fps booster?

Not true. I had stable 1000fps servers on server2008. The MOST fps drop I had was 20-40fps.

I see....damn...my fps drops to 99 making me sad.
At full server the server struggles big time to even hit over 100...
Yes, the HPET is turned on.
The FPS booster is also on.

Here is the command line: -console -game "cstrike" -secure +map de_dust2 -autoupdate +log on +maxplayers 32 -port 27015 +ip 66.151.138.51 -tickrate 100 -nocrashdialog +exec server.cfg

Is the Virtual Dedicated Server used by other people or is it completely dedicated to you? What FPS Booster are you using if any?

Virtual Servers are known to have FPS drops. Are you sure that the cpu priorities are set higher than normal? This improves fps stability.
Also 1000FPS stable on a 32man full 100tick server is going to be a hassle, 1000FPS stable on W2k8 R1 11man is hard enough, 32slot? You do the math.
