Someone needs to explain to me the idea of server having an fps parameter... I always treated FPS to be client-side related only... never though it could be applicable to the server side as well. My server indicates only 64 fps too. I am concerned. Should i and how do i change the maximum frames per second on my server?
Thank you in advance
EDIT: Spent some quality time reading about it.
Now i need help finding a piece of software called HLDS Booster. Spent a few hours looking for that, failed miserably. Googled it and whatnot... =(

Well I have a well fast server (dual Xeon 2.6 / 2Gb dual chanel DDR333) and my server still says 64FPS.
I seriously wouldn't worry about it. Our server seems to run fine so I haven't even bothered trying to find out if there is a way of increasing the FPS value. If you get any problems with lag it'll more than likely be down to your connection.

Ohh arent you just so hilariously funny.
As I said before I don't think it makes any difference on the server so don't worry about it (there are some fps_ commands - fps_lan, fps_modem & fps_single which you can use to set the max framerate on lan, modem, & single player games respectively, but they are used on the clients, not on the server).
My box is capable of 300+ fps for a fact one a decent 12 player server. I used fps_max, but something else is limiting it to 64. Launching certain websites and keeping them running in the background boosts it to 170fps which i cannot explain. Sometimes (ratrely) it starts with 255 fps cap... i have no idea what is going on...
Well I've scoured the cvar list for CS:S and as far as i can tell there is no such command as fps_max.
At the end of the day if people are connecting to your server and the game is running ok and smooth then it really isn't worth worrying about the damn FPS thing on the server. I have to admit I haven't got the faintest idea what it's even doing there (framerate shouldn't have anything to do with the server anyway, it's a client side issue).
I'd agree with PhatBoy. My server seems to run anything from 1000fps to 60fps. No idea why the differences.
It may be that it just runs the fps of the slowest player who's connected (the 1000 was when nobody was on).
It oughtn't to affect the graphics fps of the clients, but will probably affect the server's calculations of who gets hit when, but compared to latency effects I can't imagine that it's significant in any respect.

exactly.
With one particular website launched my box outputs a total cappped 512 fps with an empty server... as soon as i close the website in firefox the fps drops to 64
I can tell you this much, it involves (at least on windows 2k3 platforms) telling the media clock to not lock at 64 fps. Want some more help? Contact me off this forum...StealthMode@teamlot.net
teamlothosting answered my email and said if I were a customer of his he would answer the fps trick but I found the answer so here it is if you want to increas your fps on your server
Start WMP (Windows Media Player) and run clock.avi in your
>> %systemroot% (C:\Windows\clock.avi) folder, then you unlock the
>> windows FPS lock.

For the record you don't need the WMP nor clock.avi for source. Thats just an additional drain on your resources. You just need the right settings for the os. All the program (wmp/flash/ANY media player) does is bypass the windows media clock. There is a way to configure windows 2k3 to allow higher fps through the media clock without running ANY media player. That is what I was referring to in my email to you that I would not reveal (the exact configuration/registry changes) because of the NDA. You fail to mention that I did tell you a way to get higher fps...Thanks though for only posting partially about what I said to you. 8)
And honestly the fact I signed the NDA(non disclosure agreement) shortly after I posted that sailed completely above your head didn't it?
Good luck with the workaround you found, I myself wouldn't use it with all the exploits for WMP. 8)
Most (high Performance) Win/Lin SRCDS run with 64 FPS, theres NO problem and NO use to set this FPS higher. It makes NO difference for Clients or their "FPS".
Running the SRCDS Process Priority in "Above normal", and the -heapsize depending on Machines RAM are Tuning Settings to make a Server faster, especially on 24+ Slots and Bots enabled.
