Server FPS
#16
the servers fps is shown in the top of the consolescreen, if running the server in "-console"

If you are playing on the server you can type "rcon stats" in the console.

Dont know if that last command is available in source, but its at standard feature in cs 1.X

just make you're sys_ticrate 1000 and then open up a flash page and you're server will be blazin with 500+ fps (uses more CPU).

Gizzmo Wrote:Most (high Performance) Win/Lin SRCDS run with 64 FPS, theres NO problem and NO use to set this FPS higher. It makes NO difference for Clients or their "FPS".

Running the SRCDS Process Priority in "Above normal", and the -heapsize depending on Machines RAM are Tuning Settings to make a Server faster, especially on 24+ Slots and Bots enabled.
The people at Valve disagree with that and so do I - Read this support article here :

Valve Support Post

I did what they said on there with the CPU priority and the FPS thing with WMP and my servers are performing 20 times better than before hand.

Thanks Rooster for that link. There is alot of very solid info in that link.

I also did what they said and changed the cpu priority and have the clock.avi running in the background. Running the clock.avi in backgroud boosted the fps by over 200.

I'm running a CSS dedicated server. I've tried using the sys_ticrate 1000 cvar but the source engine says unknown command. Does anyone have this CVAR working on a Source server? If you do where do you put the command? I've tried the server.cfg, command line, etc. etc. Thanks for any information.

yap, the sys_ticrate is removed, but replaced by the command fps_max.
According to Valve it does the same thing.

example:
fps_max "1000" in srcds is the same thing as: sys_ticrate "1000" in hlds.

exactly.

With one particular website launched my box outputs a total cappped 512 fps with an empty server... as soon as i close the website in firefox the fps drops to 64

open windows meida played and let is set and do nothing. Look at you FPS. (got the info from) steamed

first of all you need to increase the timing on your operating system by using an application not windows media player because then u have to boot it every time u boot the server

fps booster

install it as a service then once thats done if u have the server on a good computer u should get about 500 fps ish now what u need to do is on the machine only allow the dedicated server to use a core so if its dual core give the server the second core all to itself by using taskmanager and giving it affinity to core 1 (which is actually core 2) or if u have quad core just give it one of the cores once that is done either in your boot line or your lanuch perameters put -ticrate 100 -fps_max 0 (which will allow the server to run at 1000 fps) and thats that now stablilty will be someting you have to tweek but this will alow you to have a server run at 1000 fps on all machines windows and linux uncluded linux u dont need the boster u just need to use -pingboost 1 2 3 which are very powerful.

I think his issue was resolved, and even then I doubt he is still around to read your reply.
