Your probably good up to 16 slots, but anything over that might be trivial. This machine will be dedicated for SRCDS, right?

Yes, it will be dedicated for srcds. Which one is better for server o/s among Windows 2003 or Ubuntu Linux?

Additional Question)
I have another machine that p4 3.0ghz, Intel 915P, 2GB Ram. 18 slots team fortress 2 is looking good but 1~3 chokes occured. 28 Slots looks like hellgate of tf2. Hardware spec is problem or server setting is problem? sorry for poor english Sad

You can run one large TF2 server (about 24 slots). Keeping the FPS stable could be difficult, however.

Please do not PM me for server related help

On your second question, it might be more than the machine can handle. You might consider goof with just 16-18 slots.
