SRCDS help please
#1
Hi all. I thought it was about time to make up a cs:s server, and i have been following some tutorials on the net. I first tried using the tool within steam but it kept coming up with an error. I googled it up, and it said it would be better to use srcds. So here i am. I have downloaded everything off the net for it, ran the hlupdatetool and DLed the 800mb worth of data or whatever.

But i have run into some problems, first of all i can't run the srcds.exe, i can only get into it through command prompt. Second, i get an error saying Incorrect price block version! Update your server!. and third no one can conect to it.

I think i have opened up all the correct ports in my router (27000-27015 UDP) and some others. but no one can still connect.

I also wish to put mani-admin on there, as well as change the map to breakfloor 2k5.

The OS i'm using is windows xp home ed. and it's running on a p4 3.0GHz, 2g ram.

all help would be great into getting this server set up and running.

cheers

what more do you need to no?. Just the script i'm using to start the server? (since the srcds.exe does not work by just double clicking on it)

@echo off
cls
echo Protecting srcds from crashes...
echo If you want to close srcds and this script, close the srcds window and type Y depending on your language followed by Enter.
title srcds.com Watchdog
:srcds
echo (%time%) srcds started.
start /wait srcds.exe -console -autoupdate -game cstrike +map de_dust +maxplayers 14 -sv_lan 0
echo (%time%) WARNING: srcds closed or crashed, restarting.
goto srcds

that's the script i'm using to start it up, and it's also a 32bit OS btw

anything else you need that i have missed?

sorry i did not relise you wanted a photo of the router config here is one of the ports that are opened

Basically i run the script, it comes up with the srcds console and everything seems to be well (i can connect to the server through LAN) and the console seems to bring everything necessary up. But when i get someone else to connect, (through my internet ip and adding :27015) they get time out errors

You need to open port 27015 on TCP.

you also need to redirect the port to your computer.

That's normal. You need to boot it via the command line or a batch script.

That is 100% normal. As I've said many times before, SRCDS LOVES errors. As long as it's not crashing, it's fine. Many errors are normal, such as that one.

As said, this is a port forwarding issue. Set your server to have a static IP address and forward all the ports to your computer as udp/tcp.

Please do not PM me for server related help

Ok well i have all the correct ports open now?. i assume i have to do something to the firewall rules? (inbound outboud serviced?) what exactly do i have to do to these?. do i add inbound or outboud or both to my servers ip?
