Did you install the hldsupdatetool installer first?

yes, I started the server from a server.sh and it gives me a segmentation fault. I have no idea how to fix this.

ill add -debug to the server.sh and post what it gives me when i run it

GarrysMod only works on Windows, If you're using Linux you're gonna have to run it under some sort of Windows Emulation, then the server just sucks.

If Windows isn't an option hen you should consider renting a server from a cheap provider.
