Advice with 64 bit
#1
Hi,
I am considering leasing this dedicated server:

Processors: Intel Core2Quad Q9550 2.83GHZ 12Mb L2 Cache
* RAM (type): 8 GB (DDR2)
* Drives (type): 500 GB (SATA - RAID)
* Windows 2008 standard edition 64 bit

Can someone please tell me if Windows 2008 standard edition 64 bit works well with srds from their personal experince running one, or is it better to go with Windows 2003 standard edition 64 bit or should I stay away from 64 bit altogether.

Thank you,

SRCDS doesn't run in 64 bit, but 64 bit is usually better for servers anyhow if you are running 64 bit software on it. I wouldn't deem it crucial if it will only be used to host game servers.

Thank you for your reply, do you run a windows 64 bit srds server? I am aware its a 32 bit application, but would like to know from someone who is running a windows 2008 or 2003 standard 64 bit if they have any issues running a source dedicated server. and yes it will be used only for gaming
