Garry's Mod Server Latency Question
#1
Question
Recently, I started a Garry's Mod dedicated server. I had some problems but I was able to search around and fix them. My server is now showing on the steam list and I've had a few people join. Today, I just noticed that my latency is staying between 15 and 50, usually around the 20's. The server is in my favorites, and it seems that when it gets below 20, it disappears from the main server list but not my favorites. I'm pretty sure that higher is better... If so, is there any way I could increase it? In March, we may be upgrading our internet package. This is what I just got from a speed test:

Pretty bad... Is this the problem?

Thanks!

You shouldn't be able to run anything on that upload speed man...

As for your latency... Gmod doesn't ever provide the best latencies even on a LAN
Looking for a game server? Visit fullfrag.com and pick one up as low as $2.50 / mo!

It does. My customers Garry's Mod server (around 5-15 ms) sometimes have lower latencies than CS:S servers (around 15 -20 ms)

You cant increase the latency, otherwise getting better peering-connections from you, to your host.

The latency also depends on how many hops there is from you to your server, and which type of internet you have

So upgrading will help... But is latency that big of a deal?

latency shouldn't be a problem as long as it isn't exceeding 50

There's no issues even if it's under 100.

It can be, if the rate setting is low
