32-player server (2010 facts?)
#1
Hi all -

I am setting up a new dedicated TF2 server on Windows 2008 x64.

I have spent HOURS searching the web for the answer to this problem, and I cannot find ANY information that is CURRENT.

How do I enable 32 players on Team Fortress 2 in 2010?

The command-line being used is:
C:\orangebox\srcds.exe -console -game tf +ip 0.0.0.0 +maxplayers 32 +map ctf_2fort

This starts the server saying 'maxplayers set to 32', but when looking it up in the master server browser, the player slots available are still only 16. Sad

I have tried all the fixes, hexedits, patches, etc for 2 and 3 years ago because that is the only thing I can find on Google.. nothing works.

That startup line is perfectly fine and it should enable 32 slots.

Instead of from the server browser, can you check from the console windows, with "status"?

2)
Double-check to see if somehow you got the following cvars in server.cfg:
Code:
maxplayers
sv_visiblemaxplayers

* If you made a ctf_2fort.cfg, check that file too.
* If you don't have those cvars, and none of the suggestions helps, might want to post your server.cfg here.

I have just checked (link), and nope, no change in year 2010.

I don't think that they will change it in year 3000 either (link).

1 - Well, status replies:

hostname: <rhubarb rhubarb rhubarb rhubarb>
version : 1.0.8.1/15 4097 secure
udp/ip : 0.0.0.0:27015
map : ctf_2fort at: 0 x, 0 y, 0 z
players : 1 (32 max)

So that also says it supports 32 players.. why would the server browser still show 16? That may be misleading to prospective players. Sad

I also checked the server.cfg again and neither maxplayers
or sv_visiblemaxplayers are defined, as I wanted to define the maxplayers on the command-line, so it is easier to run small test or match servers on-demand. I don't have any <map>.cfg's set up.

I know, that was just standard check.

Then I would assume you are running bots, or using some fake clients plugins, then disable it to see what will happen. If you are not using one of those, then I don't have any idea at the moment...

Set sv_visiblemaxplayers to value 32?
