[Resolved] Windows Server 2008 FPS Issue
#1
Server OS: Windows Server 2008 32-bit
Processor: AMD Phenom 9850 Quad 2.6GHz
Game(s): Day of Defeat: Source
Start Up Command: C:\srcds\orangebox\srcds.exe -game dod -console +ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -port 27015 +maxplayers 20 +exec server.cfg +map dod_anzio -tickrate 100 +fps_max 1000
Admin Mods: Metamod + Sourcemod

I have HPET enabled, and my FPS max set to 1000, and I have tried 0, and it won't go over 65fps. Any advice? Big Grin

Hi NinjaGinga,

1)
How did you check it? If you check it from the in-game console, be sure is "rcon stats", but not "stats".

2)
You got your Windows Media Player running? (for the server FPS boost that is)

3)
Instead of running WMP, you can use the srcdsfpsboost.exe, which gives you the same boost.

I got my copy from the following wiki:

Just do a page check for srcdsfpsboost.zip

Good luck. Smile

It was through HLSW. Since it is Server 2008, there is no WMP, but I did find the srcdsfpsboost, and it doesn't stay at 1000. It bounces from 250-979. We are verifying with the datacenter that HPET is really on.

It would not go above 500 without HPET, Did you set the CPU priorities?

NinjaGinga,

I second that suggestion for your bouncing issue (hmm, bouncing issue...).

If none of those usual troubleshooting practices works for you, then you might want to check the BIOS, and disable some "enhancement" features. For example, my Gigabyte mobo has a feature called "Performance Enhance" with 3 options (Standard, Turbo, Extreme). It lags my TF2 servers when I set it something other than standard.

Again, I threw that in just in case, yet it probably isn't your case.

The datacenter claims that HPET is enabled, and they took a pic of it being enabled, but the issue still exists. They have offered to install Windows Server Web Edition 64-bit at no charge, so we are going to try that.

Thanks to Loopy over Teamviewer, my problems have been solved! It turned out there was a "bad config" in my server.cfg that made for a stupid mistake. +1 for Loopy, and a big thanks to anyone else that helped in the forums or in spirit Toungue

Also you weren't running the srcdsfpsboost when I connected...

Yes I was, it was being run as a service. I stopped the srcdsfpsboost.exe, and it still ran fine with the HiResTimer service. Marking as Solved!
