TF2 Blacklist
#1
I found this for someone on Twitter and thought it would be worth posting here. Several people have put together Blacklist Live! which offers a list of servers most people wouldn't want to play on. Feel free to check it out!

I hate things like this. Those pub players really got a screwed-up logic.

- Fake Player Count
- Achievement Server
- Insta-Spawn
- 24+ Max Players

Blacklist a server for those reasons? C'mon. We all here know that hosting a game server takes lots of dedication, and it isn't cheap. Yet those pub players just take thing for granted.

If I were to host such a list, my concern would be:

- Admin abuse
- Douchebag regulars
- Random kick due to reserved slots

Bottom line is that there is just too many pub servers available. With more supply than demand, pub players are acting like they are paid customers. Sad

*By the way, I hope the admin of that list does do some proof checking, otherwise someone might submit bunch of innocent servers. Cool

Lots of pub players complain about the fake clients, and they see such practice is a crime.

One of my reasons to use fake clients, is this:

Personally, when I look for new server to try, I enable that option myself in order to narrow down the number of results. Yet this option would filter out all the start-up servers like mine, which are hoping to get some player visits.

My stand about using fake clients, is that if a server isn't getting fund from the players (thru donation/reserved slots), nor it is for server ranking, nor the count is set to something like ~30 players, then it is reasonable.

Most people wont join servers with fake clients because it's a waste of time. It's also generally considered "cheating" by the community. Achievement servers are also something you wouldn't want to casually join.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Mooga,

Just to clear things up. My previous comments were not targeting you. (Unless actually is you hosting that list, then yeah, I hate you. Toungue)

I play TF2 Dustbowl most of the time. I hate to see those pub players, while cursing the startup servers for using fake clients, they line up to join Lotus (25 fake clients), No Heroes (5), Doorman (vary from 0 to 10), and those guys are getting fund from reserved slots and donation.

Isn't that the same as what people complain about (e.g. game publisher), that customers don't give small guys a chance, yet complaining about the big guys (e.g. EA) making crap and ruin good titles (Ultima/Ultima Online).

Oh well, I am just jealous... (After I stopped using fake clients, my servers have been 24/7 empty for the past 3 months)

Anyway, the fake clients is just something with no right or wrong, so we just speak our minds and forget about it.

Eh, The only thing I see that would be unfair would be servers that are fake client servers, and achievement servers.
Everything else seems just fine...

And I agree with echo, that servers should be blacklisted for being general servers that you wouldn't want to waste your time on unless your 9 and retard trolness is funny...
