srcds will not start (or is crashing instantly) TF2
#1
Problem: SRCDS doesn't appear to start, or is crashing instantly (so fast there is no notice of it happening) there are no errors that come up. Acts as if I did nothing at all.

OS: Windows XP
CPU: 1.5GHz Athlon 266FSB
Ram: 1GB 133FSB
HDD: 20GB
Ports: Are confirmed open.

I used the windows tutorial located on this site letter for letter, right down to the same directories, however still nothing. I have verified the installation several times, and have even tried to delete a few of the files (as recommended on another post here) and ran the installation again, and still nothing.

I have even gone as far as to wipe the entire computer and re-install everything. The results are still coming back the same.

Here are the codes in command prompt I have been using.
Code:
c:\HLserver\orangebox\srcds.exe -console -game tf -hostport 27015 +maxplayers 24 +map ctf_2fort

c:\HLserver\orangebox\srcds.exe -console -game tf

c:\HLserver\orangebox\srcds.exe -console -game tf -ip 75.73.39.158 -hostport 27015 +maxplayers 24 +map ctf_2fort

c:\HLserver\orangebox\srcds.exe -console -game tf -ip 75.73.39.158 -port 27015 +maxplayers 24 +map ctf_2fort

c:\HLserver\orangebox\srcds.exe -console -game tf +ip 75.73.39.158 -hostport 27015 +maxplayers 24 +map ctf_2fort

c:\HLserver\orangebox\srcds.exe -console -game tf +map ctf_2fort

None of these have offered any other results. What am I doing wrong, am I just missing something? Is it the system specs that are holding it back?

I think it is a problem with the specs, there was an issue with these old amd processor not supporting something required for game servers.

Yeah, that's what I am coming to the conclusion with as well. I am going to have to hit up some resources to see if I can get a PC for cheap. Think something in the 2.0GHz P4 range will work?

Even with those stats, the server should at least boot.
Have you tried updated with -verify_all ?

Yes I have and it doesn't say any errors, just disconnects at the end, like it does when it downloads.

I installed it on my main PC (P4 Core duo 3.0GHz 4GB of ram) and it runs. I copied over all the files to my server computer and ran the update to verify the files where there, and still doesn't launch on the server computer.

Somebody had a similar problem with same series of processor, we ruled that it didn't support something on the processor that srcds required.
