Server quits and restarts over and over... help!

Question 
im a little new to linux,
I just installed Fedroa core 4 and i dont know what gcc version it has, i ran the update program. i got the server d/led and installed ok but this is what i get when i run it

over and over and over till i ctrl + c and stop it... can anyone help?

yea, i had this problem when i ran it on redhat 9 and fedora core 4, i dont know where its getting the quit command from... and i dont know what that CRC message means. i followed the directions to install it... i just dont get it... i usally run dedicated servers in windows but i wanted to do it this way, this time Sad

ummm, first try taking these two out of your command line:

+sv_secure 1 +servercfgfile server.cfg

do you have se linux enabled? if so, try disable it.

it doesn't matter if i run it with those switches or not... and no i dont have SE Linux installed

yeah i know those command line options wont change whether or not yourserver crashes, just that they are pointless. sv_secure isn't really a command in source, and server.cfg is already default.

so, lets see...you said se linux is disabled. whats your glibc, gcc, and kernel versions

Are you really trying to use a tickrate of 60? or 66? would the game mess up from it being the wrong value, or just skip it cuz its an invalid ticktare rate?

try just basic start command line .....

./srcds_run -console -game cstrike +map de_dust +maxplayers 16

if that does it, troubleshoot from there on what is causing it. could be something in your .cfg file.

FC4 is out??!?!? man, I must be out of the loop.

i tryed running it that way and here is what i got.

the server never auto created a config file... i had to copy this one off a forum somewhere.

this line in your server config is bad:

// launch our starting map, in this case, de_dust
map de_dust

thats probably telling the server to kick everyone and change the map to de_dust at map change.

anyways, back to your problem...
have you tried starting with a different map?
glibc?
gcc?
kernel?

i will take that line out of time config file... but i know thats not going to stop the problem.

kernel is 2.6.12
i dont know how to check the versions of gcc or glib... if you tell me how i will let you know... i installed fedora core 4 and ran the up2date program in gnome and updated everything if that helps...

You were correct, i took out the map line and it worked properly... It is now stable and running on my LAN... Thanks alot inc0gs! this is the first server i have ever ran where putting a map line in the .cfg screws is up... usally its required... now to set up my routing tables.

I wonder if this would work.

./srcds_run -console -game cstrike +maxplayers 16

Dont add the map to the start line, and leave it in the config and see if that works.

i think if you dont specify a map, de_dust is the map loaded. but its safe to go ahead and add the map start up parameter.

yeah you can add the +map de_dust to the start line, but the server.cfg file is executed at map change, so having map de_dust in the server.cfg tells the server to change the map to de_dust. but then it'll execute the server.cfg again and change the map to de_dust again, sending you the server into an endless loop.

to find out how to check your gcc and glibc versions, refer to this thread:

but if you ran up2date and updated everything, you should be good

Try disabling SE Linux and restarting (but dont nessecarily disable the firewall)
