Lag - Windows Server 2008
#1
Hi,

I've got an Intel Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz Processor w/ 2 GBs of RAM running windows server 2008. I've got a 5 mbit upload. Running a 20 slot 66 tick. Once I hit about 16 slots (sometimes before that) the server starts lagging. I use to run a 28 man server on windows xp with no problem. I think my rates are messed up, please help.

sv_minrate 13000
sv_maxrate 20000
sv_minupdaterate 100
sv_maxupdaterate 66
sv_mincmdrate 66
sv_maxcmdrate 101

Thank you.

Rates are fine... P4's aren't the best for game servers, and server 2008 uses more processing power / RAM than XP to run the OS.

I understand that, but it would really make that big of a difference? I thought installing windows server 2008 would just make the server more stable rather than XP.

Eh, I would have used server 2003 on a P4 rather than server 2008...

Pentium 4's don't give you much room for game servers and OS.

So theoretically, if i put windows 98 on it, i would get more slots?
