cannot download dedicated server !!!

i cannot download source dedicated server through steam
when run steam this happens after long wait ..


./steam
Checking bootstrapper version ...
Failed to connect to any GeneralDirectoryServer

i am behind a NAT server, but i dont think its network problem , as on the same PC "dual boot to windows XP "i can run the windows version of this fine without any problem & have download windows server.
there are no firewall active on my Linux box
if this is not fixable then is it possible to download linux version of this file through windows hldsupdatetool.exe ?

so you downloaded the hldsupdatetool.bin in linux? your nic card works? also have you downloaded a new hldsupdatetool.bin and tryed that?

yes i have , i have downloaded it 2 times from the same linux box .

I think you are not using any commands, thats the problem.

./steam -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir .

try it just like that, unless you have already

Try this:

http://users.lichtsnel.nl/~jap/steam/steam

download it and use it,
if it does the same do this command:

rm -rf ~/.steam/

and try again

Maybe it was just issues with steam at the time -_-

have you tried more recently? or MUCH later after this incident?

My problem is when i run this command

Msg that i have get

Nothing is update
