Server.cfg Database
#1
I long while ago I came up with an idea of building a standardized set of config files for all types of uses (Pub, Scrim, Turny, ect.). I was wondering if others were interested in building a config area where people can post configs to share with the community. There would obviously be a lot of work and standardizing involved. I'll have to work on the technical stuff, but please, tell me what you think!

I would defiantly contribute to this! I would also be interested in helping a game specific SRCDS CVAR database as well! Smile

good idea. I think the best technical realization would be a wiki. I know, this sounds like I want to pull things to me (maybe it is :-D) but wouldn't it be easiest to use my existing wiki (where the kernel howto is in)?

Something like this: http://serverwiki.sp12.speed-hoster.eu/index.php/Kategorie:Config
As i already told you i will add this to your wiki as well Wink

Since Behaartes wiki is already there and used, i would recommend to use his Wiki for the database.

Edit: Done

Maybe SRCDS.com should just get a Wiki? For every thing?

I'm sure I've posted this several times, but there have been many talks about this. I do foresee a wiki in a far future. Unfortunately there is a lot of things that need to be done before a wiki is put in place.

To be honest, it's currently out of my control.

why not merge our efforts? thanks to terrorkarotte my wiki now has several configs already in. they need to be translated into English, but I can do this soon. my wiki is also open for all other things related to hlds/srcds. so I invite everyone to put in there whatever he thinks is interesting :-)
my wiki is under GNU free documentation license, so it's not actually mine but everyone's. I would also offer to make certain adjustments if it helps the community to accept it as a - let's say - daughter project of this forums. E.g. I could add a link to this forums in the navigation and change the logo.

Could you not try and make some other system the calling the pages EN:/DE:

when I started the wiki there was no working extension for that :-)
the one you linked has one big disadvantage (if I understand it correctly): you cannot quickly switch between languages. it will be very difficult to keep the languages "synchronized" all the time, so it can become very handy to have a look at both versions to get the most recent information (as a reader of the wiki).
so unless there is a better solution for this, I would like to stick with my solution (I see no big disadvantages, correct me, if I overlooked something)

correction: there is an additional plugin to solve this: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:LanguageSelector

I will try to install them. Thanks!

sorry, the Mutlilang extension simply doesn't work. it's 2 years old, probably it's no longer compatible...
