Left 4 Dead 2 Demo Dedicated Server Available
#1
Jason Wrote:As you've already seen, the dedicated server files for the Left 4 Dead 2 Demo are now available. The game name is left4dead2_demo. We're still doing some final checks for the client, but that should be going live soon.

Im running it on both linux and windows. Windows seems to work, but i cant get linux starting by using this command: ./srcds_run -console -game left4dead2 +map c1m5_waterfront +ip 172.18.188.5 -port 41000

Im getting this error message: ./srcds_linux: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Full output:

Auto detecting CPU
Using AMD Optimised binary.
Server will auto-restart if there is a crash.
./srcds_linux: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Add "-debug" to the ./srcds_run command line to generate a debug.log to help with solving this problem
Wed Oct 28 14:28:38 CET 2009: Server restart in 10 seconds

Im open for all help

I have the same issue, and as it's 8pm UK time it's a bit annoying. Hopefully the updates in Jason's most recent email will sort this:

Has anyone managed to find a work-around for this yet?
Right

Just stumbled upon the problem, it's that you're using a 64 bit install of linux which by default doesn't have the 32 bit C++ standard library. As srcds is a 32 bit program it needs them. On apt based systems:

sudo apt-get install lib32stdc++6

That'll get you going.
