TF2 Server, connection problems.
#1
Alright. I used to run a CSS server about half a year ago. It has always worked fine and I was really happy. Then one day my parents decided to switch routers. I've never been able to run a server again.

Here's the deal.
OS: Windows XP
Processor: Dual Core thingy, not important 'cause it got nothing to do with it.
Ram: 4GB, not important.
Game: TF2 in this case, but none of my servers work.
Startup command: None, I like the little GUI, even if it makes the server a tad slower.
Admin Mods: Sourcemod.

I have a Sitecom Wireless 300N XR Router, my computer is connected trough a wire to the router. My Local IP is 192.168.0.101, my external IP is 83.87.3.43.

I got the ports 27000 to 27015 portforwarded on both UDP and TCP.
I got nothing in my DMZ table.

Now the problem. I can run Srcds.exe fine, I can connect trough my server by connecting to:

192.168.0.101:27015

However, I cannot connect trough it using 83.87.3.43:27015. The server is ofcourse set to Internet. The server does showup in my LAN tab, not in the Internet tab. It will not showup when searching for it by IP.

So basicly, what I think is going on. The server and the Internet, aren't connecting. Something interupting that connection. So I can LAN connect to it, but the server won't reach the internet, so when connecting using my External IP it won't find it.

I will now disable Windows Firewall and test it, but I think it wont make a diffrence. EDIT: Yep, no luck.

Note: Also, instead of posting: 'put off your firewall', type ALL the possible solutions you can think of. This way I won't have to wait for you to read my posts and comment back all the time. Also, when asking me to use DMZ, or some other Router related stuff, please go intio detail since im not fammiliar with this.

Thanks in advance Big Grin

When connection to a server on the same LAN you have to connect to the server via its internal LAN IP, which in your case is: 192.168.0.101:27015

Everybody outside your LAN needs to connect to the IP address: 83.87.3.43:27015

You being on your LAN cannot connect to the IP address 83.87.3.43 because you are that IP address.

Please do not PM me for server related help

It should be possible to connect through that ip 83.87.3.43:27015 even though your server is located on your lan or same computer. From experience, I've been able to connect through my own server on the same computer playing through the external and internal ip.

Did you check to make sure that your router has opened the necessary ports?

UDP 1200 (Friends Network)
UDP 27000 to 27015 (Gameport)
UDP 27020
TCP 27030 to 27039
TCP 27015 (SRCDS Rcon port)

Here's a srcds guide if you forgot about a few things about setting up a srcds.
