Another Skin Question...

Smile
Hi there, me again, I don't enjoy calling myself a noob, so lets just say I'm without practice in this area of *ahem* gaming...

I am running a TF2 dedicated server, and as Halloween is coming up I decided I wanted some Halloween themed skin(s). I just wanted to do 1 skin for now, this is the one I am trying to put up:Skeleton Skin, so I copied the materials folder to my server's materials folder and same for models ( yes the directory is in the tf folder), sv_consistency is set to 0 and same with sv_pure. In fact, when i connect to the server, my account doesn't even try to download them (no, I don't already have this on my account).

What did I do wrong?

If I didn't mention some important data you smart people need to know to handle the problem plz post and I will post right back!

I don't think you can change the TF2 player models.

Why would he put that on fps banana then? He doesn't say anything about needing sourcemod (though I do have it running on the server)

FPSBanana is commonly used to skin your own client models. It's not much of a server administration resource site beyond a few tools and the obvious map selection they have. The rest of the site is more or less all client related.

As mentioned by realchamp, you can try taking a look on sourcemods site for some plugins that will do this, but they are hard to come by. I believe predator made a plugin for this, however I'm unsure as to how it works and how the modeling system works.

That could work, however once again, I'm unsure as to how each plugin works. I've never personally tried any of the model changing plugins so I can't tell you from personal experience.

Your best bet is to simply read the posts in the thread so you can see the sort of feedback left by the users. If it sounds like it might do the trick, then install the plugin and see how it goes.

I had tried this before where we wanted to change all the player skins and models of TF2 to zombies and superheros for a friends mod, but nothing worked. There is something with the game not allowing those models to be changed for the purpose of maintaining the consistency of hit boxes between different types of models and the game servers...

Have you ever seen a server with those player models changed?
I don't play TF2, but that is my explanation.

@ loopyman - That would make sense which is another reason why you can modify you're own client models and another reason why servers can force the sv_pure cvar. I have seen plugins that allow you to change stuff like the pipebombs and other generic models, but I've yet to see a server/plugin successfully change the character models for TF2.

I have a feeling this is just something that's not possible, but with a quick search, there was a couple plugins that "might" have done what the OP was looking for Smile
