Impossible. You need a static. Which might cost you moneys.

Register (free), choose a name/domain (like monkey.game-host.org), fill in your current IP (use autodetect IP)and use the name to resolve your IP (can be used for connecting to a server, ftp, web, ssl etc.).

Does this also work by putting it into the server (ie. will the server resolve to the ip as well as the connect command?)

Yes it does: connect monkey.game-host.org:27015

Internet <--> External IP/ DynDNS-mask on router <->internal ip router (192.168.1.1)<-> forwarded ports <->internal IP on Server
Start the server with internal IP. To connect to the server use external IP/ DynDNS-mask.

Please do not PM me for server related help fqdn Wrote:if you've seen the any of the matrix movies, a game server is not all that different. it runs a version of the game that handles the entire world for each client connected. that's the 2 sentence explanation.
