Easy, better fps, stable.

pro:
- u dont have to buy/rent/pay a licence..
- high configurability
- stability
- in my opinnion: its a logical system.. i know why its working.. or it isnt.. in windows are often errors i cant explain Oo

con:
u have to know what u are doing.. so it requires some knowledge..

.. but probably im the wrong guy to answer.. cos i love linux... :/ so i cant see many cons

The obvious reason for linux is how configurable it is. You can even go so far as customize your kernel.

customize? ur talking about srcds itself and a shitload of plugins? :] most of them work on win and linux

but.. we were talking about the customization of the linux server itself.. so it gives a better performance to the srcds server ;]

BUT - if ur new to linux.. please try to get ur knowledge at a local machine.. or a virtual machine..
because it can happen really fast.. that ur linux box gets an open relay for spamming services..

so keep in mind.. especially for linux dedicated servers: with great power.. comes great responibility ;]

If you're around there I'd go for a quardcore. 2.5GHz
