Cool
With an sv_downloadurl "rofl.com/cstrike" // lets say...

would it be possible to have 2 locations that would give users files?

Like if someone lived in WEST USA and rofl.com had a server there and a EUROPE Server at rofl.com
the west usa user to dl faster from the west usa location and the europe person to dl from the europe server so it would be faster.

Would this even be possible?

And what about 2 dif ones like rofl.com and lmao.com i dont think that would be possible would it?

But anyhow would it be possible for 2 locations like that for speedier dling?

Probably if you were using a PHP script for it. Not by default.

I've tried doing this but I'm not sure if it works.

Erm, you guys seem to be making hard work for yourselves.

What I would do is get a webhost in the USA and UK, then use subdomains to point to each of them with an A record.

rolf1.domain.com > USA
rolf2.domain.com > EU

Pretty simple.

I think that players will have more of an issue with higher pings, than the speed of a download. European players joining even a east coast American server will have in excess of 120ms ping. And likewise with east coast American players joining a european server. Never mind the west coast Big Grin

I still get a good download rate from american servers (as in http/ftp), so I really dont think it would affect the download rates too much.

This is very true, probably easier to get yourself a good host in the US which don't overload their services.

Ya, its quite senseless to get a fastdownload for EU and US.. and let all of them play on one server..

but i just read the thread that Ghost Assassin posted... very interesting .. gussy made a script to use fastdownload with many servers .. for small webspaces etc..

but i'm just thinkin about.. modifieing this script to use it as load balancer - so u can bundle bandwitdh and traffic of a few webspaces ;]
