Core2duo Quad showing core load?

I have a couple questions about the quad cores its been awhile since I ran server on linux but used to use dual xeons hyperthreaded I know the quad cores won't ht but when I do a top command in linux shouldn't I be able to see the load on seperate cores? It just shows as 1 cpu. Also I know on windows server they recommend running wmp to get the fps up do I need to run something on linux to get 600 fps max? I'm on FC 10 64 bit. Thanks.

are you already using a custom kernel? if yes, then you know how to compile your kernel I guess ;-) look in the kernel config in "Processor type and features" -> "Maximum number of CPUs (2-255)".
if not, your kernel probably supports already more then one cpu.

keep in mind that top usually shows only the average cpu usage over all cpu. press "1" to switch the view to the individual cores...

That works Behaart, I am not running a custom kernel, whatever the host through on there and it was barebones thats for sure, if I hit 1 it shows the cores separately, would I benefit with a custom kernel and if so where can I get help on this?

it usually gives you higher and more stable fps. I wrote a howto linked in my signature.
