Srcds.exe will not launch
#1
I have read lots of posts but none answer my problem - hopefully some-one can shed some light for me

I have used srcds before and i re-installed xp
upgraded to sp3 again and re-downloaded srcds

installed as before but when i double click srcds.exe nothing happens
when i run as admin i get the message
"d:/ ....../srdcs.exe the service cannot be started, either because it is diabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it

even when i create shortcut and add command line e.g. -console the same thing happens

Server OS: Specific version. xp sp3
Processor:x86 family 15 model 6 stepping 4 genuineintel 2799 mhz
Ram: 2gb.
Game(s):day of defeat source
Start Up Command: none at the moment.
Admin Mods: none at the moment - plan to use sourcemod

it has worked on this pc before
any help would be greatly appreciated

You must run it with a parameter.

An example would be:
Code:
srcds.exe -console -game dods +map dod_avalance
#3
appreciate the time to answer but as i said i have tried that too
#4
Can you show me the batch script/command you ran your server with when you did an attempt as my example was pointed to?
#5
it was just as u put but without the map

srcds.exe -console -game dods
#6
You have to run a map parameter in the command line for the server to startup.

Please do not PM me for server related help
fqdn Wrote:if you've seen the any of the matrix movies, a game server is not all that different. it runs a version of the game that handles the entire world for each client connected. that's the 2 sentence explanation.
