SRCDS Steam group


A good kernel?

Hi, I dont want to compile my kernel but I would like to know which version of kernel are better for srcds?

I have this one: ( i use centos)

# uname -r
2.6.18-128.2.1.el5


I would like to know how to know if he is well optimized for gaming? how to know if he support 1000 fps and 100 tick

Well.. i would say that you need a "custom"kernel if you want a stable gameserver.

Im getting good results with std. Ubuntu Server 9.04, Q9550. (I get 995 FPS stable without SrcTV).

The stock ones are better, the newer ones generally have too much bloat (ie; every few ticks the TSC's are checked to make sure they are sync'd)

In my experience, the stock one was the most reliable.

k but what kernel version for centos? (redhat, fedora).


and how to know if my kernel is optimized for 1000 fps?
