Ubuntu server problems :(
#1

Hi all,

I've set up a srcds counterstrike source server on ubuntu server edition. Everything is installed well. but it will only listen to the 127.0.1.1 ip. Wich is pretty useless :p if added the command -ip 192.168.1.118 to the startup line. but then it says cannot assign requested adress.
Couldn't allocate dedicated server UDP Port, (even though I have forwarded every ports for this ip!) and then it restarts every 10 seconds!

Does anybody knows a solutions to this? maybe my network device is failing or something but I don't know. it's just built in on my mobo.

I hope I have given enough information.

Thanks for all the help!

http://www.oclc.org/support/documentation/ezproxy/technote/2l.htm

You could try that and add the IP to the interface properly.

Can you give us the output of ifconfig? And type ps ax |grep srcds_run

I tried this howto. and I think that should work. but after I save the new configurations and try to restart the network interface it says:

* reconfiguring network interfaces
Don't seem to be have all the variables for eth0/inet
Failed to bring up eth0.

so the only output of the ifconfig command is the loopback interface.

hmm now I tried the command: sudo ifconfig eth0 up. but now it has it old configuration again Sad so no static ip adress.

so the output of ifconfig is now

Looks like your IP is 192.168.1.11 rather than 192.168.1.118.. is there a typo somewhere?

Try passing -ip 192.168.1.11 to srcds.

Also make sure that ports are being forwarded to the correct IP address!
